Report: Samsung’s market share improved in South Korea by 3% in Q2 2020

Samsung is one of the leading brands in the smartphone market. The South Korean firm maintained its position in Q2 2020 after a sharp fall in sales. Today a new report explained that the company tried to grow its market share. Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy A series in South Korea in the second quarter this year.

According to the report of Counterpoint Research, the South Korean firm’s market share grew 3% higher in Q2 2020 from Q1 2020s 67%. Its main reason is that the sales of the Galaxy A series smartphone and Galaxy S20 series. South Korea’s smartphone market gained 9% compared to Q1 2020. This improvement is still lowered by 8% in comparison to Q2 2020.

Apple stood second in the South Korean smartphone market with a share of 19% during the same period. Compared to Q1 2020, the iPhone maker’s market share improved by 1 percentage point in Q2 2020. LG remained in the third spot with a market share of 13%, down 3 percentage points from Q1 2020.

LG’s market share sacked a 3% point from the first quarter this year and stood to the third position with a market share of 19% in Q2 2o2o in South Korea.

iPhone SE, Galaxy S20, and Galaxy S20+ were the top three best-selling smartphones in South Korea in the Q2 2020. Samsung Galaxy A series was the half of the top 10 best selling smartphones in the same period in South Korea. Smartphone with pricing below $400 sold by 45% which shows that the South Korean consumers bought affordable phones during the Covid-19 pandemic.
