Samsung announced a new flagship Exynos 1080 processor made with 5nm process technology, Cortex-A78 processor cores, and Mali-G78 GPU

Samsung unveiled its latest Exynos 1080 processor, the successor to the Exynos 980. Samsung Exynos 1080 SoC manufactured using a 5-nanometer process technology. It uses the Cortex-A78 processor cores, as well as the Mali-G78 GPU.

This new SoC has formally announced by Dr. Yimao Cai. He has joined Samsung Electronics R&D Center as a senior engineer about 15 years ago after receiving a Ph.D. from Peking University.

In an interview, Dr. Yimao Cai stated that the Exynos 1080 processor got 650,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark and it will go higher after optimization.

But even now, Exynos got higher points in comparison to the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865+. Its power consumption has been reduced by 50% compared to the previous generation.

It is expected that Vivo X60 will become the first smartphone having the latest flagship Exynos 1080 SoC instead of the Samsung Galaxy.

Some Chinese retail stores is advertising the Vivo X60 calling it “the professional flagship in the field of imaging”. This information provided by a tipster IceUniverse.
