Samsung becomes leading foldable smartphone brand of 2020 globally: Report
Samsung has been doing very well in the foldable smartphone market and also planning to diversify the lineup. With three foldable smartphones currently, the Korean tech giant is working to introduce four more smartphones next year.
Now as per the Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), Samsung has been the leading brand in the global foldable market in 2020. Further, the report estimates that Samsung’s foldable market in terms of shipments will go up to 88% this year. The Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip, both are expected to be the best selling fold smartphones of 2020.
Among the four new fold smartphones next year, Samsung is also expected to release some of them at a decent budget to capture more share in the market. The Company is also planning several new technologies for the upcoming fold phones such as UDC (Under Display Camera), Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), and the S-Pen functionality.

DSCC also said that the foldable panel shipments are expected to go up to 454% and will reach up to 3.1 million units this year. There are also some predictions made regarding the UTG, which claims that this technology will lead the market next year in terms of foldable smartphones with an 84% share this year.
The company also got competitors for the next year such as Oppo, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Motorola. These smartphone brands will also bring new foldable smartphones in the coming days. It remains to be seen what new technologies these companies will offer and at what price segments.
