Verizon releases Android 11 firmware update with ‘Advanced Messaging’ for Samsung Galaxy Note 20
Just recently, T-Mobile and Sprint started rolling out the Android 11 firmware update for Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series. Following this episode, another network carrier in the US has begun sending this major platform upgrade to these devices.
According to the info, Verizon bounded Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra have started collecting Android 11 based One UI 3.0 update in the US. This firmware update also brings Advanced Messaging (RCS) feature for these models.
Google’s Android 11 brings several exciting new features such as Chat Bubbles that lets you focus on your current work, pin conversations, one-time permissions to apps, and much more.

Furthermore, Samsung One UI 3.0 is also based on Android 11 that comes with a refreshed user interface that reflects the Settings menu, notification panel, lock screen, app drawer as well as system enhancements for increased user experience.
Verizon is also providing Advanced Messaging features for Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. The RCS brings huge capabilities for a better messaging experience including typing indicators, longer text messages, large group chats, chat over Wi-Fi, high-quality media sharing, larger files transfer, location sharing, and read receipts.

- Privacy Controls
- Permissions auto‑reset – If you haven’t used an app in a while, you may not want it to keep accessing your data. So Android will reset permissions for your unused apps. You can always turn permissions back on.
- One-time permissions – Give one-time permissions to apps that need your camera, location, or mic. It must ask for permission again when the app needs access.
Advanced Messaging (RCS)
Advanced Messaging features include:
- Typing indicators: See when your contact is typing in a conversation.
- Send larger text messages: Create larger messages up to 8,000 characters long. With Advanced Messaging you’re no longer limited to 160 characters.
- Large group chats: Create group chats with up to 100 participants.*
- Chat over Wi-Fi: you can send messages over Wi-Fi, even when you don’t have a cellular connection.
- High-quality media sharing: Share pictures and videos in high-quality.
- Transfer larger files: Send larger attachments than ever before.
- Location sharing: Share your location as you travel.
- Read receipts: See when your message has been read.
*Group message recipients must also have Advanced Messaging enabled on a compatible device.

- Android 11/One UI 3.0 software update is now ready to install on your Samsung Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra.
- Open Device Settings
- Find the Software updates option
- Tap on Download and install button.
