On March 11, 2021, Samsung announced that the 2021 Neo QLED lineup has received the first-of-its-kind ‘Eye Care’ certification from VDE. Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) is a well-known electrical engineering certification institute in Germany.

Samsung 2021 QLED models completed the testing from VDE and achieved the comprehensive ‘Eye Care’ certification which includes ‘Safety for Eyes’, ‘Gentle to the eyes’, flicker level, uniformity, and color fidelity assessments.

Safety for Eyes: This certification is assigned to products with the levels of emission of blue light, UV rays, and infrared rays that fall into the ‘Exempt Group’ according to the classification of emission limits set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Gentle to the eyes: This certification proves that the amount of melatonin suppression from a device meets the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) standard.
