Recently, Samsung smartphone users reported a strange issue of the apps crashing. The issue came to light when many complaints are posted on different social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc. Moreover, it happened due to an issue in the Android System WebView that is used to display web content.

Users have reported that many apps including Google, Gmail, and Amazon are crashing in their Samsung smartphones including Galaxy S21, Galaxy A50, Galaxy S8, Galaxy A71, Note 20 Ultra. Although some Huawei, Pixel, and Motorola smartphones also faced the same issue.

However, Google addressed this issue and identified WebKit as the source. Meanwhile, the company is already working on its fix. So if you are facing the same issue then you can follow the steps mentioned below until Google fixes the issue.

Steps:

  1. Open Settings and go to Apps
  2. Head to Android System WebView
  3. Then, click on the three dots in the top right corner
  4. Finally, hit Uninstall Updates

At the same time, another userbase claims that uninstalling updates in the settings fixes some apps and you can only get the issue properly fixed by uninstalling apps directly from the Play Store.

Lastly, if you are still facing the issue then you don’t have to worry as Google already started rolling out an update that fixes the app crashing issue. However, the update will be rolled out in different batches so it may take some time to be available widely.
