Samsung launched the Galaxy A40 smartphone back in March 2019 with Android 9 Pie-based One UI 1.x out of the box. However, this phone belongs to the mid-range segment that’s why it is eligible to get two major Android upgrades and four years of regular security patches.

The Korean tech giant has already delivered the Android 10-based One UI 2.x update to the Galaxy A40 users back in March/April 2020. Now, this handset started receiving its last major Android update in the form of Android 11. Along with the latest Android OS, this update also includes the 3.1 version of the One UI.

Following the recent trend, the Galaxy A40 is also directly getting the One UI 3.1 iteration with the Android 11 update. Identified via firmware version A405FNXXU3CUC2, the new software installs the latest One UI patches released in March 2021 as well.

A few things to be noted, the One UI 3.1 features are currently rolling out to only select Galaxy A40 users in Germany who have purchased the phone from Vodafone carrier. After ensuring the stability of this OTA, the OEM will surely expand its availability in other regions, which is expected in the coming days/weeks.
