Samsung introduced the massive 120Hz refresh rate displays with all the three Galaxy S20 series (S20 FE too) models last year. Further, the company launched the Galaxy Note 20 lineup but its top variant only features a 120Hz panel for smoother animations.

Following its habit, the Korean phone maker unveiled the latest Galaxy S21 models back in January 2021 and these trios also come with huge 120Hz refresh rate Dynamic AMOLED screens.

On the other hand, Samsung’s primary rival – Apple has also launched its new iPhone lineup that is the iPhone 12 which includes four handsets. However, the company has not implemented higher refresh rate screens due to battery drainage issues.

According to the latest information, it looks like the US tech giant is finally decided to adopt high refresh rate LTPO OLEDs for its upcoming iPhone 13 series, reports TheElec.

The report further suggests that the company is planning to use LTPO TFT OLED panels for the higher-tier models in its iPhone series launching later this year. And Samsung Display will exclusively supply those panels for the iPhone 13 series.

Furthermore, the Korean tech giant will upgrade its OLED panel manufacturing unit to meet Apple’s need and reportedly start the supply of the displays later this year. It is also rumored that Samsung Display has secured 30,000 Gen 6 substrates per month capacity for LTPO TFT OLED panels on its Apple-dedicated production line last year.
