Recently, Counterpoint published a report that tells the overall scenario of the Indian online smartphone market in 2020. According to the report, India hits the highest market share of 45% despite the global pandemic condition and recorded a significant 7% growth.

Having 19 percent share, Samsung managed to get the second position ruled by its popular M-series smartphones. However, the company shipped one-third of its smartphones through Amazon.

Following this, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi as usual maintained the top position with a 40 percent share, driven by its fellow companies Poco and Redmi.

Talking about Samsung specifically, then it was not a bad sign that it got the second spot in terms of online sales in 2020, as it’s doing quite well for 2021.

Meanwhile, if we look at its current online launches including the flagship Galaxy S21 series in January, then it could be possible that the company may snatch the top position from Xiaomi.

Surprisingly, Realme jumped up to third place by pushing Vivo in the fourth position. The company recorded good growth of 19 and sold most of its smartphones from Flipkart registering a 27 percent YOY increase.

On the other hand, Samsung’s rivals Apple and OnePlus captured a 22 percent market share as a whole, reported by the Counterpoint researchers.

Besides, it is important to mention that the Indian online gadget market is led by two big companies – Flipkart and Amazon. For the last year, Flipkart remained at the top spot having 48 percent market share followed by 44 percent of Amazon.
