Recently, reports surfaced online suggesting that two major rivals – Samsung and LG have done a deal to supply OLED panels. This news has arrived just after LG’s decision to shut down its mobile phone manufacturing unit in order to focus on other tech products.

Now, it looks like both OEMs are too much aggressive to strengthen this newborn partnership as Samsung is likely to order millions of OLED TV panels from LG Display, reports Korean media. If the deal gets fix then it will be Samsung’s very first purchase of OLEDs from its major rival.

The report further suggests that LG Display will supply 1 million OLED TV panels in the second half of this year and another 4 million OLED TV panels next year. Meanwhile, the President of Samsung Visual Display denied these reports and said that it was a complete rumor.

On the other hand, industry insiders said that the part of the meeting between the two sides is a fact. Moreover, it is worth noting that Samsung has not launched OLED TVs for many years, while LG is the leading supplier of the OLED TV panel industry.

Last year, LG has also announced the expansion of its OLED production line. And Samsung is currently committed to the research and development of QLED TV panels, but its production capacity and yield rate do not seem to have reached expectations. It is still difficult to replace LCD TV panels whose prices are rising day by day.
