Presently, in the field of chip foundry, TSMC is the largest chipset manufacturer. Its 7nm and 5nm processes are the first to mass-produce, and more advanced processes are also advancing as planned. Moreover, the market share of TSMC is also quite higher than other chip makers.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics can easily beta TSMC when it comes to chipset process technology, thanks to the 5nm EUV tech. Although Samsung’s chip process technology has been upgraded to 5nm, the mass production time is slower than TSMC.

According to the info, TSMC’s founder Morris Chang said that as the largest chip manufacturer in South Korea, Samsung Electronics has the ability to compete with TSMC in the field of chip foundry, and Samsung Electronics is still a strong competitor of TSMC.

The success of TSMC is not only because it adopted the foundry model, but also because of the leadership of professional managers and the focus on R&D and innovation. For TSMC, maintaining a leading position is essential.

However, the fabrication process tech can basically keep up with TSMC’s rhythm but Samsung’s share of the chip foundry market is far less than TSMC. Though, the report suggested that in Q1 2021, Samsung’s share of the global chip foundry market was 15.9%, far less than TSMC’s 54.1%.

Therefore, even if Samsungs share in the mobile chipset market is far less than TSMC, the former can still defeat the latter and still remains the biggest competitor in the industry.
