Earlier this year, Samsung introduced its new Galaxy S series called Galaxy S21. The top tier of this lineup, Galaxy S21 Ultra features the true flagship camera capabilities including a 108MP camera, and two telephoto lens, which delivers up to 100x Space Zoom without losing quality.

Aside from this, various OEMs have also unveiled their flagship smartphones, which include Xiaomi’s latest Mi 11 Ultra. This is the first handset in the industry, which is equipped with Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 50MP image sensor.

We’ve previously heard that Samsung ISOCELL working on a 200MP camera sensor, which could be launched in near future. A few months ago, it was reported that the company’s upcoming camera sensor could debut with ZTE’s smartphone.

According to Chinese media, Xiaomi has already started working on a new smartphone, which equips a 200MP sensor. This 200MP camera sensor reportedly carries model number S5KGND and features a 1/1.37-inch sensor. Moreover, it can capture 50MP images, and it can capture 12.5MP images in the 16-in-1 pixel binning mode.

The report suggests that ISOCELL’s 200MP camera sensor has 1.28μm pixels, which is quite smaller than the ISOCELL HM3’s 2.4μm pixels (in 9-in-1 pixel binning mode) and ISOCELL GN2’s 2.8μm pixels (in 4-in-1 pixel binning mode).

However, Samsung has not yet officially confirmed its 200MP camera sensor while it could feature 16K video recording capabilities. It’s worth mentioning that currently there’s no mobile processor available, which has an ISP capable of processing 16K videos.

Lastly, we recommend you take this information as a pinch of salt as Samsung is also reportedly working on a massive 600MP camera lens, higher range than the human eyes. We’ll keep you posted when new data surfaces on this matter. Stay tuned!
