Later last month, Samsung had already started sending the May 2021 security patch to the Galaxy S21 series smartphones, followed by the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 devices have also joined the party with the latest security update.

Aside from expanding this firmware, the South Korean phone maker began to release a new build for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra flagships in Europe, mainly in Germany. Just like the previous OTAs, these newer ones also include the May 2021 security patch for both lineups.

Besides, Samsung once again reminded the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 lineup smartphone owners that they are getting improvements for the Camera and Quick Share performance. At the same time, the latest release adds a new Dual Recording camera feature to Galaxy S20 series phones.

However, we now have the details about the fixes and revisions of the May 2021’s security patch, which was not available at the time of initial rollout. Samsung stated that this new security patch comes with fixes for 3 critical, 24 high, and 17 moderate CVEs.

Coming to the identification, these firmware updates carry build versions: G980FXXU7DUE1, G985FXXU7DUE1, G988BXXU7DUE1, G991BXXU3AUE1, G996BXXU3AUE1, andG998BXXU3AUE1 for the Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra 5G, Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra respectively.

Since it’s a staged rollout so it may take a bit longer to reach every Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 model. Though it’s expected that Samsung will not take too much time to expand their availability to more regions outside Europe. You can check for updates manually by opening device Settings > Software updates > Download and install.
