Samsung Galaxy Fold, Galaxy S9 and S9+ receive May 2021 security update

Starting May 2021, Samsung began updating several premium devices to the latest security patch while this year’s flagships had already received this OTA ahead of starting this month. Further, the company has also released new firmware updates to mid-range and older flagship phones such as Galaxy A51, Note FE, Galaxy S9, etc.

According to the latest information, Samsung is expanding the May 2021 security update for the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy S9, and Galaxy S9 models in more countries. However, the company has recently updated the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S9 units in the US, now its Exynos variant’s turn to pick up the latest security update.

  • Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G – F907BXXU5EUD7
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 – G960FXXUFFUD6
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – G965FXXUFFUD6

Though we now have the details about the fixes and revisions of the May 2021’s security patch, which was not available at the time of initial rollout. Samsung said that this new security patch comes with fixes for 3 critical, 24 high, and 17 moderate CVEs.

If you are using one of the Samsung Galaxy S9 series flagships, then check for the updates manually by operating to your device Settings, scroll down and pick the Software updates section, and finally tap on Download and install.

Last month, the South Korean tech giant published its official update support page, which confirmed that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones are no longer eligible for more monthly security updates. It means these device owners will receive security updates 4 times a year, while the May 2021 security patch is the last monthly update.
