WhatsApp working on a new feature to sync devices more efficiently

A couple of days ago, WhatsApp released a new beta update for the Android application with version number 2.21.9.7. The changelog of this update revealed that the company is working on a chat history migration feature between Android and iOS.

However, there’s no info shared by the Facebook-owned company on the method of migrating the chat history, while it’s expected that it will be transferred in Google Drive. Still, there a question remaining about what will happen after moving the chat history to another device?

Meanwhile, WABetaInfo comes up with new information, which suggests WhatsApp developing a new feature to let users sync with linked devices seamlessly. This feature comes with the latest WhatsApp Beta 2.21.10.6, which allows the paired phones to sync with each other when the chat history is migrated to another.

According to the report – “This is needed when you do some chat actions, for example pinning a chat, starring a message, or any other background service related to multi-device functionalities. When WhatsApp, on your current device, is syncing with WhatsApp on another device (having the same WhatsApp account), a notification will be presented.”

  • Deleting a chat on a device won’t remove the same chat on another device.
  • Deleting a specific message for everyone will delete it on any linked device.
  • Deleting a specific message for you won’t delete it on linked devices.

Note: WhatsApp is still working on multi-device and what needs to be synced, so everything might change before the release: the last word has not been said yet.
