Following Apple, Google to soon require app developers to add a safety section in Google Play Store

Apple has recently rolled out a minor iOS 14.5 update to several eligible iPhone models across the globe. Although it is a minor version update, it has made extraordinary significant impacts on the industry as it changes the business rules and makes it transparent how the app developers collect user information.

After the huge amount of positive response to Apple’s new privacy policies, Google has no reason not to follow the same, and the information suggests Android OS will follow the example of iOS, allowing developers to disclose information about collecting user data.

Recently, Google announced that it will set up a new security zone in the Google Play store, where Android smartphone users can see what data developers have collected and shared, and can also inform more security and privacy information.

Reports reveal that Android app developers have to announce relevant information before the second quarter of 2022 and users will see the Google Play safe zone before the first quarter of 2022. However, the search engine giant is highly dependent on advertising revenue, but it’s time to tighten restrictions on Android data and cross-app tracking.

Furthermore, the Google Play Secure Zone will also tell users other information such as whether the app encrypts data, whether the App complies with Google’s Family and Children Policy, whether the user has the right to share information, and whether the user has the right to request data deletion if the app is uninstalled.
