Recently, it is reported that Samsung is preparing to unveil new Galaxy Book laptops in the near future, which could be equipped with the ARM-based Exynos 2200 SoC chip. However, these PCs are expected to be introduced in the second half of this year, and the next Galaxy phones could also equip the Exynos 2200 with AMD GPU.

Now, according to TomsHardware, the Exynos 2200 will be Samsung’s first chipset featuring AMD RDNA architecture GPU. Though it will be manufactured using the company’s own 5nm LPE process, the same is the existing Exynos 2100 process.

It’s important to mention that the Exynos 2100 uses one Cortex-X1, three Cortex-A78, and four Cortex-A55 cores. Meanwhile, the notebook version of this SoC is expected to have a higher frequency, or integrate more than one X1 super core to improve performance.

At the same time, The Korean Economic Daily reported that – “The new Exynos will offer improved functions, including extraordinary computing power and battery efficiency, by utilizing a 5-nanometer processing technology. It’s good for both laptops and smartphones.”

The report also suggests the area of the Exynos 2200 SoC chip is expected to be much larger than that of the Exynos 2100, which hints at its higher manufacturing costs and power consumption. Although this chip is expected to achieve a higher burst frequency in a notebook thanks to its good heat dissipation capacity.

Aside from this, a tipster previously claimed that Samsung Exynos 2200 is expected to achieve a 125% increase in CPU performance and a 250% increase in GPU performance compared to Exynos 2100, which is stronger than Apple A14 and Qualcomm 8cx.
