Apart from smartphones and tablets, Samsung also launches new and premium smart wearables every year. As of now, the Galaxy Watch 3 is the latest and high-end smartwatch offering from the brand. Moving on, the company could soon introduce new Galaxy Watch models in the next Unpacked event.

Ahead of an official announcement, a piece of new information coming from South Korea, which reveals Samsung is all set to ditch its own Tizen OS on the upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4. However, the same thing was also reported last month that the next Galaxy Watch will run Google’s Wear OS instead of Tizen.

If the next Galaxy smartwatches will feature Google Wear OS, then it’s a back turn by Samsung as it ditched the Wear OS 7 years ago. Previously, it was reported that the lack of mainstream apps on the Tizen platform is the reason behind the suspension of Tizen OS from Galaxy Watches.

Aside from this, the report further suggests that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 will not feature non-invasive blood sugar monitoring, which was rumored earlier this year. Besides, the former will be available in 42mm and 46mm sizes while the latter will be available in 40mm and 42mm sizes.

Previously, Max Weinbach found two codenames (Fresh and Wise) in the teardown of the Samsung Wearable app, which suggested the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 will be the next smartwatches from the brand. The same source also found a new plug-in – “water”, which is expected to be the compatibility layer designed by Samsung for Wear OS.
