Samsung shows off under panel camera, slidable, triple folding display and more!

On May 17, 2021, Samsung announced that it will showcase various new displays at the “SID Display Week 2021” from 18th to 21st May. Following the announcement, the company has officially introduced many futuristic OLED displays that will enable you to experience a better everyday life.

According to the official info, Samsung Display officially released a video, which showcases the new displays that were teased via images yesterday. The video starts with showing off triple folding display, Samsung entitled it as S-Foldable, later, we can see the under-display camera tech, better known as Under Panel Camera for laptops.

Furthermore, we get to see a concept of a massive 17″ folding laptop that can be folded and carried easily, and a quite attractive smartphone with a Slidable display, which will surely become reality in near future. However, these techs are just in concept for now, but they will debut with Samsung Galaxy devices very soon!

At the SID Display Week 2021 event, Samsung Display President, Joo-sun Choi said that “Samsung Display will develop various self-luminous technologies such as OLED, QD, and LED in the future.” The future business vision is also disclosed.

Samsung Display launched next-generation OLED technologies such as “S-foldable”, Slidable, and UPC (under panel/display camera) and 17-inch foldable display, which will change our daily lives in the near future.

• S-foldable

Samsung’s “S-foldable” is a multi-foldable display that can be folded twice inside and outside that can confirm the world’s best OLED technology. When the screen is opened to the maximum, the size is 7.2 inches, and it is a concept that can be used as a smartphone when folded twice and like a tablet when fully opened.

It is a 17-inch product that provides a large screen similar to a tablet when folded in a 4:3 ratio and a monitor when unfolded. It is a differentiated foldable product that allows you to enjoy a large screen on a PC monitor while enhancing portability (Carrying Small Seeing Big).

• UPC (Under Panel Camera)

UPC is a full-screen technology that minimizes the bezel and maximizes the screen by mounting the front camera on the bezel part of the existing IT device under the panel and secures camera functions by increasing the transmittance of the panel part where the camera module is located. However, the UPC panel is currently introduced for laptops.
