Samsung confirms existing Galaxy smartwatch’ experiences will continue on Wear OS

At the beginning of the I/O event, Google announced that it has teamed up with Samsung to develop a unified Wear OS platform in order to offer great wearable experiences. At the same time, both companies confirmed that they are combining Tizen with Wear OS, and future Galaxy wearables will run this combined platform.

Although it is confirmed that the next Galaxy Watch will feature pre-installed Wear OS powered by Google, what about the existing Tizen OS based Galaxy Watches? Will Samsung provide Tizen OS based s/w updates to the current wearables or they will also get the Wear OS through OTA updates?

To counter the rising confusion among the Galaxy Watch owners, Samsung officially released “[Editorial] A New Era of Smartwatch Innovation Starts Here” where it has explained the collaboration between Google and Samsung, which will present an enhanced smartwatch experience.

Samsung’s signature designs, cool watch-face ecosystem, and innovative health platform have been loved by users all over the world. This excellent experience that consumers liked on previous Galaxy smartwatches will continue to be used on this unified Wear OS platform.

The company implemented its best technology to provide the best performance and uses advanced sensor batch processing and low-power display technology to ensure an efficient and long-lasting battery.

Continued Commitment to Existing Galaxy Smartwatch Users

Samsung always puts customers at the heart of everything it does and committed to bringing them the best possible smartwatch experiences. And the company again continuing to provide at least three years of software support after the product launch for customers who already own the Tizen OS based Galaxy smartwatches.

Apart from this, Samsung also said that it is excited to bring a new, powerful, and refined smartwatch experience to our users in the coming months – and long into the future. The company is expected to launch its next-gen Galaxy Watch 4 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in July this year.
