Previously, Samsung introduced two different types of folding phones called – Galaxy Z Fold/Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip (clamshell-type foldable). Later this year, the company is expected to unveil their successors that will be called the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Aside from this, the South Korean tech giant rapidly working to develop innovative display technologies and it has recently revealed a handful of futuristic OLEDs such as Under Panel Camera, Slidable, etc, which will debut with future Galaxy devices.

Recently, a new trademark application of “Samsung Z Roll” has been surfaced on the web, gave us an idea over the name of the expected slidable screen smartphone. Now, another trademark application came to light, which also suggests that Samsung is progressively working to implement the slidable OLED into the future Galaxy smartphone.

Yesterday, Samsung filed a trademark with the EUIPO for the name ‘Z Slide’. The application is categorized as Class 9 and has the same description as ‘Z Roll’ along with S Pen support. These names are so close to each other as ‘Roll’ stands for rollable, while ‘Slide’ means it’s a slidable smartphone.

Though “Z Roll” and “Z Slide” mention the letter ‘Z’, which seems to refer to the Galaxy Z series. As all the foldable smartphones are grouped within the Galaxy Z series, it looks like Samsung wants to include all the flexible display smartphones within the Galaxy Z range.

Lastly, we could see Samsung’s slidable display phone in the near future, while the company could make an announcement over its future visions in the field of foldable screen smartphones at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which could happen in July or August this year.
