Samsung Lee Jae-yong to be released on parole instead of pardon

A few months ago, Samsung heir Lee Jae-yong was jailed due to charges of bribery and a capital crime. Initially, he was sentenced to 30 months in jail, meanwhile, there’s a possibility of his early release from prison as the chairman of South Korea’s ruling party has hinted at Lee’s parole.

Song Young-gil, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea pointed out that Samsung is the key to semiconductor competition (US and China) and Samsung Biologics is the key to Covid 19, it is true that the public consensus for releasing Vice Chairman Lee to work has increased.

Adding to this, CEO Song, in an interview with Yonhap, said that the important thing is that Samsung’s Lee is not active because he has been arrested and that he cannot invest until he appears. That’s why the public consensus is growing that Lee should come out and work in disaster situations.

Apart from this, it is said that Korean President Moon Jae-in was undecided on Lee’s pardon. But, most of the business leaders and eminent personalities arguing the govt to pardon Samsung’s heir. Recently, the US companies and Buddhist monks had also pushed South Korea to pardon Samsung VC.
