Here’s how Samsung fixed Galaxy S21’s camera lag issue and added new features

Following the launch, Samsung Galaxy S21 series smartphone users complained about a laggy camera. By collecting numerous different feedbacks, the company acknowledged that users face facing slowness/lag errors while using the zoom function in the stock camera application.

Later on, the Korean tech giant confirmed that it will roll out a big s/w update for the Galaxy S21 series devices very soon. Following this, the latest flagships started getting major camera performance improvements alongside the June 2021 security patch update.

However, the company officials also confirmed that they will share more details on the Galaxy S21 lineup’s camera performance update after starting a broader rollout. Meanwhile, the details regarding the camera improvements made in the Galaxy S21 June s/w update have been announced recently.

According to the official information, engineers have regularly worked to fix the severe camera lag issue on the Galaxy S21. Aside from this, the June 2021 update also comes with an improved Portrait Mode and optimized memory usage while using high zoom levels.

However, the changelog didn’t reveal any new feature, but the company confirmed that the Galaxy S21 June 2021 update adds a new feature that allows users to scan and recognize QR codes from images stored in the gallery. Also, it brings improvements to the Video Call Effect feature and Night Mode.

  • Performance optimization in major camera scenarios (improving stuttering)
    • Optimized the portrait mode engine.
    • Optimized memory and engine when shooting with high magnification zoom.
  • A function has been added so that QR code scan can retrieve and recognize QR images stored in the gallery.
  • The usability of the video call effect (Manual color function added) has been improved. Details will be announced separately.
