Samsung wants LG’s retail stores to sell Galaxy phones too, not just Apple iPhones
Recently, a new report from South Korea revealed that Apple is considering establishing a new partnership with LG in order to allow LG to sell iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch in its 400 LG Best Shops in South Korea starting August 1st.
According to the new information (via HeraldCorp), Samsung opposed the newborn partnership of LG and Apple and claimed that the move would violate the agreement signed in 2018, which promises only LG phones can be sold in LG stores as part of the protection of small and medium-sized stores.
Following Samsung’s comment, LG reportedly said that a clause in the agreement stated that if major changes occur, it can be renegotiated. However, LG left the smartphone market that can be considered as a big change. The association that initiated the agreement is also questioning LG’s move, but an official agreed, believing that it should be renegotiated in light of the situation.

According to reports, Samsung may be concerned that LG’s sale of iPhones in more than 400 stores in South Korea will threaten its market share of 5G smartphones as Apple is the world’s largest supplier of 5G mobile phones, while Samsung ranks fourth.
It’s worth mentioning that Apple and LG’s original plan was to sell iPhones, iPad, and Apple Watch, but the plan has been allegedly modified to only sell iPhones. Moreover, Samsung is trying to indirectly put pressure on LG by requiring the three major South Korean carriers to ask LG to sell Galaxy phones in Best Shop stores.
