Starting this month, Samsung released the June 2021 security patch update to most of its Galaxy devices including phones and tablets. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series smartphone users from Hong Kong are not able to access and use local bus cards.

According to Chinese media ITHome, the Hong Kong variants of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series can fully support the mainland bus card by scanning the National Bank System. Meanwhile, now it’s no longer possible to add local bus cards in the Samsung Pay app, however, you can still use the already added cards.

Following this, the blog reached out to Samsung and the company reportedly said that the latest Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 s/w update, Samsung Pay blocked the compatibility of the mainland bus card and transportation card activation permission, while the original card still supports card charging and normal use.

It’s worth mentioning that Samsung Pay comes with support for a variety of bus cards including China’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Interconnection Card. However, the reason behind the discontinuation of these bus cards still unknown.
