Not only flagships, Samsung’s entry-level devices are also getting the latest security patch with new firmware. In a recent development, the ultra-affordable Galaxy A02s started grabbing the July 2021 security update in a number of smartphone markets globally.

Launched back in late last year, the Galaxy A02s ships with Android 10-based One UI 2. In April, the company has completely changed the device’s UI and added numerous new functionalities along with the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update.

Well, the latest update only brings the latest Android and One UI patches released in July 2021 in order to enhance the overall device performance. Aside from this, it’s expected that the update also fixes the Android Auto-related issue that was appeared last month.

July 2021 Security Bulletin: According to the official release note, the July 2021 security update for Galaxy A02s comes with firmware version: A025MUBU2BUF5, which brings fixes for 3 critical and 38 high levels of CVEs from Google. At the same time, it includes fixes for 8 SVEs from Samsung for Galaxy devices.

In terms of identification, the Galaxy A02s July 2021 update sports firmware version A025MUBU2BUF5, and it’s currently rolling out in Brazil. I’m sure that Samsung will not take too much time to extend its availability to more global markets.

This week, Samsung has begun rolling out the July 2024 security update for Galaxy devices, starting with the Galaxy A55 smartphone. This time, the company has prioritized the Galaxy A series instead of flagships. More Galaxy smartphones will join the update list in the coming days or weeks.

Alongside the update, Samsung has released details about the July 2024 security patch and updated its list of devices receiving software updates. Notably, the Galaxy A21s has reached the end of its update cycle and is no longer eligible for new software updates.

The July security patch addresses over 55 issues, including 4 critical and 21 high-level vulnerabilities in Android fixed by Google. Additionally, Samsung has resolved 33 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE), focusing on One UI Home, System Property, System UI, Filter Provider, Secure Folder, Configuration Message, IMS service, Knox, MTP app, and more, to further enhance device security.

This week, Samsung has expanded the June 2024 security patch to more Galaxy devices across various countries. This includes devices like the Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy M15 5G, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy A55.

Furthermore, Samsung has rolled out the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy A13 4G, A14, and A25 5G in the Middle East, and for the Galaxy A52 4G in Brazil.

Reports suggest that Samsung may integrate user interface enhancements from One UI 6 Watch into One UI 7. Rumors indicate that improvements and UI changes seen in Samsung’s Wear OS 5 skin could appear in the Android 15 update for Galaxy phones.
