SmartThings Energy is a new service within Samsung’s Internet of Things (IoT) app that lets users take control of their energy consumption by offering real-time information on where and how energy is being used within the home.

Due to the extensive growth of SmartThings Energy’s partnership network, it’s growing into a smart energy management solution that is also able to encompass the energy consumption of every appliance in a home and integrates such renewable energy sources as solar.

Smart way to manage energy usage

The ability to monitor and analyze the energy used by devices and appliances connected to the SmartThings platform is SmartThings Energy’s core capability. Users can take control of their energy consumption and reduce their monthly energy bills by viewing how their devices use energy.

In addition to automatically switching appliances to low energy mode, the service can also notify you when your energy consumption exceeds monthly targets. At the same time, it can also use energy billing system information such as peak-time rates to help you adjust your energy usage and minimize energy costs.
