Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 20 getting July 2021 security update

Earlier this month, Samsung updated its latest Galaxy Note series devices with the most up-to-date security patch. Now, the Galaxy Note 20 flagships locked on Verizon cellular started grabbing the July 2021 security patch in the US via software update.

Other than the security improvements, the update package also includes system performance enhancements for a better overall user experience. However, it’s a gradual rollout, it may take some time to reach every Galaxy Note 20 unit in the country.

Last month, Google said that Samsung will fix the Android Auto-related issue with software updates in the future so we can expect that the July 2021 update fixes the error that was emerged last month. However, the new OTA improves the performance of all the stock applications.

Aside from this, the Korean OEM stated that its July 2021 security patch embeds fixes for 41 CVEs from Google and 8 SVEs from Samsung. At the same time, Verizon’s update for the Galaxy Note 20 should also include additional repairs from the carrier.

Galaxy Note 20 Android 12 Status

Launched back in August 2020, the Galaxy Note 20 series ships with Android 10-based One UI 2.5 out of the box. Moving on, the phone maker delivered the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update in late last year, followed by the One UI 3.1 update earlier this year.

As Google is going to release the twelfth major generation of its mobile phone operating system, Samsung is also preparing to begin its Android 12 Beta activity for flagship Galaxies. It’s expected that the One UI 4.0 Beta will be released for the Galaxy S21 in October followed by the Galaxy Note 20 and others.
