One of the popular market analysis firms, Canalys has recently released a report, which revealed in the second quarter of 2021, India’s smartphone exports fell by 13% between Q1 and Q2 2021, to 32.4 million units, due to the second wave of COVID-19, which reduced demand.

According to the latest report from market research firm Canalys, Samsung shipped only 5.5 million smartphones to India during Q2 2021. That is almost part of Xiaomi‘s achievements. Samsung’s market share appeared to be 17% during the quarter, while Xiaomi has exported 9.5 million units, owned a market share of 29%. Samsung’s annual growth was 87%, while Xiaomi’s annual growth was 77%.

Vivo has exported 5.4 million smartphones to the country and has a market share of close to 17%. The Chinese company is very close to defeating Samsung and gaining second place in the rankings. Realme, a subsidiary of OPPO, shipped 4.9 million smartphones and achieved 181% annual growth and a market share of 15%. On the other hand, OPPO shipped 3.8 million smartphones and had a market share of 12%.

The smartphone market in India has seen a full growth of 87% compared to Q2 2020. Last year, the country experienced serious problems related to COVID-19 between Q1 and Q2, which significantly affected smartphone sales. The smartphone market has not yet fully recovered, and rising costs are also not helping.

Canalys Research Analyst says smartphone products will see an increase in demand in the second half of this year but should invest heavily in online retail channels as the third wave of COVID-19 appears inevitable.
