Samsung Galaxy A71 5G (A Quantum) update brings July 2021 security patch and more

Samsung started releasing a new firmware update to the Galaxy A71 5G AKA Galaxy A Quantum in South Korea. The latest software update, which is currently rolling out in Korean, sports PDA build number – A716SKSU3CUG5.

As you can see in the changelog (mentioned below), the Galaxy A Quantum update comes with the July 2021 security patch, which brings fixes for 41 CVEs from Google and 8 SVEs from Samsung in order to keep users’ devices secure and reliable.

In addition to the security improvements, the new Galaxy A Quantum update enhances the video call usability as it might add some new features or better optimization. Furthermore, the update increases the device’s stability for a better overall user experience.

Galaxy A Quantum

Back in May 2020, Samsung launched the Galaxy A Quantum in collaboration with Korean telecom carrier SK Telecom. It comes with Galaxy A71 5G branding in the international market and lacks the quantum random number generation (RNG) chipset.

The Galaxy A71 5G features an Exynos 980 5G chipset, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery. In terms of key specs, the device offers a 6.7-inch FHD+ screen with punch-hole cutout, quad rear cameras (64MP+12MP wide+5MP macro+5MP depth), and a 32MP selfie shooter.

How to check for updates manually

  • Open device Settings
  • Scroll down and tap on Software updates
  • Hit the Download and install button.
