In addition to the most up-to-date security patch, the latest Galaxy S9 series software update didn’t include major system optimizations or any new features. However, it’s necessary to install security patches on your device as they keep your data secure against multiple threats.
Around four months ago, Samsung shifted the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ devices from monthly to quarterly software updates schedule. Therefore, these handsets will receive new security updates on a quarterly basis for a year and two biannual software updates in the fourth year.
How to check for update manually
You can check for the updates manually by opening your device’s Settings, finding and selecting the Software updates menu, waiting until the phone detects a new OTA update, and finally tapping on Download and install.
