Gboard 10.9 allows you to disable copy/paste highlights for URL, addresses and phone numbers

Back in June 2021, Google introduced a new Gboard feature that comes with “key snippets” of copied text with an address or phone number. However, the latest Gboard 10.9 Beta update highlights a setting to disable the “key snippets” feature.

Gboard puts phone number, email address, or URL in a standalone pill with an accompanying icon when the user highlights a passage of text, which includes that information. However, users still get the suggestion to paste everything, but Google is trying to make the experience “smarter” and “easier”.

While using Gboard, copied passages with phone number, email address, or URL result in a very dense suggestion strip, which is somewhat overwhelming and might cause users to just press-and-hold in the text field to paste from there.

According to 9to5Google, it joins the setting to disable the Clipboard entirely and, control “Save recent screenshots in the clipboard” for some users. That latter feature does not appear to be widely rolled out yet.

As you can see in the screenshots attached below, Gboard 10.9 introduces a new preference in “Clipboard” settings to turn off.
