Launched back in May 2021, Google’s Android 12 operating system comes with a number of new features as well as radical design changes in the user interface. With the first Android 12 Beta, the company rolled out several features and main UI redesigns.

According to the latest info via 9to5Google, the search engine giant is now releasing the “Ongoing call” chip for the Google Phone app. The report suggests that the chip appears to the right of the time as a large pill with a phone icon and time in xx:xx format from the start.

Following the footprints of the Android 12, the Ongoing chip adopts the phone’s current wallpaper, while standing out against your current background. During a call, the user can open the Google Phone app by tapping on the Ongoing chip.

It’s noteworthy that the new Ongoing chip will be going to take place of the Bubble that appears during the call for Google Phone users. Moreover, the pull-down menu shows a redesigned notification with some of the actions that previously appeared after tapping the floating chat head.

As of now, the Ongoing call chip function is accessible for all the Google Pixel phones running Android 12 Beta 3.1 and 68.0.388241074 Beta version of the Phone app.
