Future Galaxy M phones to feature Chinese AMOLED instead of Samsung

Recently, a new report from a Korean media outlet appeared online claiming that China’s CSOT has supplied the OLED panel for some of the last year’s Samsung smartphones and now it’s developing OLED panels for new Galaxy products.

As per the report, CSOT was found to have supplied a limited number of OLED panels to the legacy model (2020 model) of Samsung Electronics’ low-cost smartphone Galaxy M series, which is quite popular in the Indian market.

It’s reported that the amount of OLED supplied by CSOT for legacy models this time is not too much. However, it is meaningful in that it met the quality standards required by Samsung. Moreover, the report revealed that CSOT developed OLED panel for the Galaxy M41, but it was not released by the company last year.

At the moment, CSOT is manufacturing OLED panels for Samsung’s new Galaxy products for the fourth quarter, however, BOE is also developing OLED panels for new Galaxy M series devices. If both of these OEMs, supply OLED panels for new Galaxy products in Q2, changes are expected in Samsung’s OLED market

Since last year, Samsung is in tough competition with Chinese companies such as Xiaomi in the mid-to low-end smartphone market. However, lower-priced OLED supply by CSOT and BOE could help the company to regain its lost market.
