With the Galaxy S21 series, Samsung decided to not include the charger inside the box as part of saving the environment from much use of plastic.  Meanwhile, it looks like Google is following the footsteps the Samsung and going to not bring an in-box charger with its upcoming Pixel 6 flagship series.

According to a recent report of The Verge, Google confirmed that its future smartphone devices will come without any accessories, which is a clear hint at the removal of the charger. And the company has also explained that most people nowadays have a USB-C Type charger.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro should be the first devices affected by this change, with Google getting the opportunity to further shrink its retail packaging, especially since the charger was the thickest object included. The company has already been minimizing the size of the box to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

No free charger with Pixel 6

After the recent statement of ditching chargers, the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will become Google’s first affected devices. Well, the company has yesterday unveiled its mid-range model – Pixel 5a, which comes with an 18W charging adapter.

Samsung’s most affordable charger and cable set comes with a price tag of $19.99, while Apple gives just an adapter at the same cost. It’s expected that Google will offer the $35 charging adapter at a discounted price as the $20 cable will come along with the Pixel 6 inside the box.
