Google is working on ability to save Tab Groups to Chrome web browser

Google is updating one of the most useful features in its popular Chrome web browser. It may be possible to save Tab Groups, so you can get back to them as soon as possible after your browsing time expires.

This change is noted by @Leopeva64 on Twitter, this new functionality is not yet available without the flag. However, when it is ready to be released to everyone in the upcoming Chrome release, a new “Save Group” toggle will appear as an option in the drop-down menu that appears in the Tab Group itself box.

This could mean that as you find websites and group them by name or color, scroll down to the new tabs tab as you see fit, and close Chrome, you’ll be able to continue where you left off easily.

In addition to our screenshot above, Google’s developers have screenshots of this on the Chromium bug tracking website. Also, 9to5Google reports that this feature may be applicable to all types of Chrome desktops.

A similar feature for Google Chrome Groups is also in Microsoft Edge. However, it is hidden behind the flag in the Canary version of the web browser, but the functionality is the same. There is no word yet that this will extend to the Edge, but given the fact that the Edge is based on Chromium, it should not be too long.

Google is not alone when it comes to collecting your tabs and making it easier to organize your work. Microsoft’s Edge web browser has a “Collections” feature. This feature allows you to add tabs to the browser next to the browser to quickly access all of your different devices.
