Samsung India comes fourth in terms of PC market in Q2 2021

Samsung was the fourth-largest personal computer (PC) retailer in India in the second quarter of the year, due to its strong sales of tablets. The South Korean tech giant secured a 9.8 percent market share in India after shipping 403,000 PC units, including desktops, notebooks, and tablets, in the April-June period.

According to market researcher Canalys, Samsung’s second-quarter PC exports rose 134 percent from 172,000 units last year while gaining a 6 percent market share in India.

In terms of total exports of PCs to India have grown by 43% annually in Q2 2021 reaching 4.1 million units, consisting of half a million desks, 2.5 million notebooks, and 1.0 million tablets. Almost all sectors have grown at double-digit rates twice a year, largely due to the inefficiency of Q2 2020.

HP maintained its leadership position with shipments up 54% year on year in Q2 2021. The vendor has managed to consolidate its market share by doubling down on consumer products. The vendor grew its notebook shipments by 59%.

Lenovo was in second place with 20.5 percent of the shares followed by Dell Technologies Inc. at a rate of 12.8 percent, showing Canalys’ details. The total PC exports to India in the second quarter grew by 43 percent annually reaching 4.09 million units.

As per the report, the shipping of books reached 2.49 million units, an increase of 43.2 percent from the previous year, while the shipping of tablets increased by 52-percent per year to 1.03 million units. Desktop deployment has exceeded 23 percent per year to 515,000 units.
