VLC v3.4 for Android adds various tweaks and changes to media player

Users have been waiting a long time for a major VLC update for Android, and v3.4 may not look like one, but it does add important tweaks and improvements to the popular multi-format media player.

Recently, VLC for Android v3.4 released some outstanding audio playback features including the ability to bookmark any playable media so you can jump back to where you left off when you return to the app.

Ideal for listening to audiobooks, podcasts, or even speech recordings, this feature lets you leave a bookmark you’ll see in the playback bar – while allowing you to tap directly on that timeline in an instant.

The VLC for Android v3.4 also fixes the beauty of the audio player, which may or may not be a carbon copy of the Google Play Music interface with similar features. There is a large portion of the album artwork, and this is designed to put “content in the middle”:

In addition to this VLC for Android v3.4, ride and start-up tutorial now comes with guided navigation to help new users to play the media player. This target set shows you how touch controls work with some of the latest UI tweaks and should help reduce confusion when you accidentally do things like swipe the display and have the player’s light or volume suddenly change:

When using Android Auto, VLC for Android v3.4 includes some major changes that should make it much easier to browse, search, and select tracks/audio in your library on the device, especially when roaming using Google Maps.

This latest update includes under-hood functionality and tweaks to enhance the experience with VLC on your smartphone. The latest version is now being released via the Google Play Store.
