As we approach the official launch of Android 12, Google is updating its many applications to support all of its new Material You themes. Gboard was one of the first to get the make-up, with its new color scheme now available to anyone using the latest Android beta. However, it looks like the look isn’t complete yet, as the new Material You material is on its way to an upcoming release.

Android 12 is about around look, and the keyboard is no different. The folks at 9to5Google discovered around the latest  Gboard’s latest APK and were able to enable some of the upcoming features, including all sorts of conflicting edges throughout its user interface.

Looking at the shared screenshots the rectangular keypresses have been replaced by pop-up circles, next to new tablet-shaped options when selecting emoji keys and punctuation. The letters are also always visible when you touch a key instead of disappearing under a white box.

Google has rebuilt the Gboard Settings menu, just days after mixing some of its important emoji options into a new category. With its refreshing appearance, it resembles a new UI-Esque popular menu. The “Themes” page has also got a nice design, with round blisters and a new look for its theme cards.

Previously hidden from users, the above changes are now visible in the latest Gboard beta release, 11.0.1,  and available as a direct download in the APK Mirror. Since the stable version of Android 12 is not far off in the future, it should not be long until everyone has access to this new UI.
