Samsung launches Digital Key for select flagships, lets users control car features
Through its newsroom post, Samsung made an announcement that select flagship Galaxy smartphone users will be able to use their smartphone as a Digital Key of car for the first time with the newly launched luxury EV, Genesis GV60.
Powered by NFC and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, Samsung Digital Key lets users lock and unlock their car securely with their smartphone and even safely share the key with friends and family.
Back in January 2021, Samsung announced a series of partnerships with automakers at the Galaxy S21 launch event. The Genesis GV60 will become the first vehicle to showcase the innovative new technology when it launches in September, starting in Korea.

According to Samsung, its Digital Key is powered by advanced UWB technology that uses radio waves to operate, much like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. However, UWB transmits radio waves at a much higher frequency, enabling highly accurate spatial awareness and directional capabilities.
