Samsung Canada is proud to announce a partnership with the Jays Care Foundation, a charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club, to support increased access to technology and educational aspirations for Indigenous youth across the country.

Recognizing the unequal effects of COVID-19 on indigenous communities, Jays Care has worked to support its indigenous partners on their path to recovery.

As part of this project, Samsung Canada is donating more than 500 Samsung Chromebooks to children and teens at Jays Care Indigenous programs. Laptops were distributed in 27 indigenous communities across Canada.

The Samsung Chromebooks will support a variety of education programs in Indigenous communities, including access to online mental health services, mixed or home learning support and after-school programs, leadership training, and additional youth programs to gain employment skills.

According to many Indigenous communities who have applied for technology tools, the widespread shortage of technology in their communities has presented challenges to many young people.

As a leading technology provider, Samsung Canada has long supported youth programs through the Solve for Tomorrow program, a learning experience for Canadian students to see a better world through technology tools and innovations.

Samsung Canada is committed to closing the digital divide and expanding access to Indigenous youth technology throughout the year. Visit samsung.com/ca/jayscare for more details and making a donation today, Samsung Canada will match all donations made, up to $20,000 from September 30 to October 28, 2021.
