On October 19, Google officially released the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones at its Pixel Fall Launch event. During the launch event, the company officially launched the Android 12 system for current Pixel mobile devices.

Other than Material You, improved quick settings, and a series of new Android 12 features, the update also has an October 2021 Android security patch. If you’ve participated under the Android 12 public beta program, then check for the stable release.

To be mentioned, the official version of Android 12 can be installed on Pixel 3 and newer models, including Pixel 3A, Pixel 4, Pixel 4A, Pixel 4A 5G, Pixel 5 and Pixel 5A.  On the other hand, Android 12 will be available on Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi devices later this year.

Amazingly, the Pixel 5 phones already running Android 12 Beta 5, and the final Android 12 OTA is only less than 5MB, and the October security patch date is the first Monday of this month. However, it’s an initial rollout, it will be available to every consumer in around two weeks.

No doubt, the brand new Material You design is the most eye-catching feature in Android 12 that lets you go a little deeper and adjust the appearance of the home screen to your liking. There are tools for you to coordinate colors, which can be extended to application icons, drop-down menus, gadgets, and so on.

Google calls Material You a “Pixel-first” feature, although it will soon enter “more device manufacturers and mobile phones.” In the near future, Pixel phones are likely to get more “Pixel priority” features in the Android 12 system.

In the past few years, Google has released some features that make being a Pixel user even more unique. However, some features are only available for newer Pixel phones, so this is even more reason to consider buying a new Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro phone.
