On October 20, Samsung released the latest One UI 4 Beta program (Beta 3) for the Galaxy S21 series smartphone users in South Korea. The latest One UI 4 Beta 3 comes with several new features and improvements for a better overall user experience.

Along with One UI 4 Beta 3, the company has also started rolling out the latest November 2021 security patch for its high-end Galaxy S21 series, ten days ahead of the next month.

Moreover, the company has also confirmed that the stable Android 12 update will be rolling out to Galaxy smartphones later this year. Although, here, we are talking about Digital wellbeing and parental controls on One UI 4.

What are Digital wellbeing and parental controls?

Digital Wellbeing is a feature that shows the Apps Dashboard through which one can see how long an application is open and by swiping across different screens you can see the breakdown by day, hour, and app.

You can monitor and manage your digital habits by getting a daily view of how frequently you use apps, how many notifications you receive, and how often you check your device. You can also set your device to help you wind down before going to bed.

How to use this feature in Samsung smartphones?

  • Just go to Settings
  • Tap Digital Wellbeing and parental controls for the following features:
  • Tap the Dashboard to view the following:

Screen time:

View how long an app has been opened and used each day.

  • Notifications received: View how many notifications have been received from an app each day.
  • Unlocks: View how many times an app has been opened each day.

Your goals

  • Screen time: Set a screen time goal and view your daily average.
  • App timers: Set a daily limit for how long you use each app.

Ways to disconnect

  •  Focus mode: Limit app usage for set periods of time to avoid distractions from your device.
  • Bedtime mode: Schedule when to change the screen to grayscale and mute
    calls, alerts, and other sounds.

Comfort care

  • Volume monitor: Choose a sound source to monitor the volume and keep your
    ears safe.

Check on your kids

  • Parental controls: Supervise your children’s digital life with Google’s Family
    Link app. You can choose apps, set content filters, keep an eye on screen
    time, and set screen time limits.
