Android 12 now lets users restore power menu home controls with Tasker and Alexa

Back in September last year, Google launched the Android 11 operating system, which comes with several new features and enhanced privacy. With Android 11, Google also added a simple and practical concept through the power menu, which combines smart home controls from Google Assistant and cards from Google Pay.

Unfortunately, this feature has been completely removed from Android 12, which annoys fans.  But Thankfully, Tasker has added a way to bring the power menu controls back to Android 12, with a minor issue.

According to the information, Joao Dias, the founder of Tasker illustrated a plan to bring smart home controls back to the Android 12 power menu on YouTube. This method requires you to install Tasker and AutoVoice on your smartphone, and import pre-made projects available for download.

After downloading, as long as the power menu appears on the screen, this method will trigger a row of floating buttons. Therefore, even when your phone is locked, the function will still work.

However, the main problem with this feature is that it works with Alexa, instead of using a product linked to the Google Assistant via the Home app. It may be due to the more openness of Alexa’s API, but this should not be a big obstacle, as most products that work with Google Assistant also support Amazon Alexa.
