According to the latest Canalys report, the global PC exports (including tablets) have dropped by 2% annually to 122.1 million units. Both tablets and Chromebooks were down after a series of consecutive growth scenarios. Tablet exports have dropped by 15% annually to 37.7 million units, as the need for tablets to support consumer and education cases is reduced in many regions.

The Chromebooks have fallen sharply, with shipping falling by 37%, due to lower education costs in the US. Total shipping for Chromebook reached 5.8 million units in Q3. While the overall tablet market has declined in Q3, many retailers are still sending volumes above pre-epidemic levels.

With 15.2 million iPads shipped, Apple has kept the lead in the rankings, with lower annual performance. Where, Samsung came in second with a 20% drop, sending 7.2 million units in the third quarter. Lenovo, which has retained its momentum, has been the only seller in the top five to see small growth, with 4.2 million units shipped, up 2% year-on-year.

Amazon and Huawei have made the top five, with the biggest fall by 45% and 51% respectively. The Chromebook market suffered a sharp decline, with a 37% decline in annual sales (52% quarterly) in Q3. In the overall PC market (including desktops, notebooks, and tablets), Lenovo retained its lead with an increase in market share by more than 1% as it reached 24.4 million units deployed.

Apple remained in second place with an estimated 5% growth in total shipping of 23 million units. HP felt the impact of supply constraints, with a 6% decrease in annual shipments. In fourth place, Dell saw a dramatic 27% increase in exports and a nearly 3% increase in market share. Samsung completed the top five, as happened in Q2 2021.
