WhatsApp started forcing users to update to multi-device version
Earlier, WhatsApp added support for multi-device, a feature that WhatsApp users have been asking for for years. However, the multi-device feature was only available to select WhatsApp beta users. After a while, WhatsApp took it to a stable version, too.
Until now, the feature was based on opt-in choice, which meant you had to join a multi-device beta program from within the app to try it out. But that is changing now as WhatsApp has started forcing users to update to multiple device versions.
As seen by WABetainfo, WhatsApp has started releasing a new beta update that removes the opt-out option for multi-device, indicating a wide range of nearby releases. If you were part of a multi-device beta program, you can’t leave the system now.
For those who have never joined the program, the update will remove you from all your previously connected devices, forcing you to reconnect them using the multi-device feature. This change comes with the beta version of WhatsApp 2.21.23.10.
For those who don’t know, multi-device support allows users to access WhatsApp on other connected devices without having to have their primary smartphone connected to the internet. Users can connect up to 4 non-mobile devices.
That means you may not be able to use the same WhatsApp account on more than one phone, but you will be able to use the same account on WhatsApp Web, Desktop, and Portal at the same time.
