On February 11, 2020, Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S flagship lineup entitled Galaxy S20. This series includes three variants including the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Later on, the company has added the fourth & affordable variant Galaxy S20 FE to the range.

Launched pre-equipped with Android 10-based One UI 2.1, the Galaxy S20 trio came with two Android upgrade support, however, they have joined the new upgrade plan, which ensures three generations of Android upgrades. Besides, the S20 FE ships One UI 2.5 and is eligible for three upgrades as well.

Starting One UI 2.5, the Galaxy S20 series received the Android 11 (One UI 3.0) as the first major OS upgrade in late 2020, while currently running the 4.0 version of One UI, based on the Android 12 operating system, later last year.

On November 15, the company has officially launched the stable One UI 4.0 software system based on the Android 12 operating system. Moving ahead, the Galaxy S22 series, pre-loaded with One UI 4.1 officially debuted earlier this year.

A user in South Korea reached Samsung Community with a demand for the 4th One UI 4 Beta update for the Galaxy S20 series devices.

Following the user’s concern, Samsung Beta Operations manager disclosed that the company won’t release any new One UI 4 Beta, while the stable/official version will soon be released. Read more here

Samsung released a new One UI 4 Beta build that bears firmware build number ending ZUKC in South Korea. It comes with fixes for some system issues and bugs as well as performance improvements for a better user experience. [Source]

Official: Samsung Galaxy S25 to redefine everyday AI with bold new features

Samsung One UI Home 6.1.1 update

For the first time, Samsung officially discussed the Galaxy S25 series. Today, the company announced its earnings results for the third quarter. Samsung also revealed that the Galaxy S25 series will enhance Galaxy AI with bold new features.

Samsung says the Galaxy S25 series will be released in the first half of next year with an enhanced Galaxy AI experience. The launch timeframe should be January 2025, but we would get genuine information by the end of the year.

Galaxy AI has proven a big hit this year, and Samsung is planning further enhancements to the Galaxy S25 series. We expect new features with deeper integration across the operating system in the Galaxy AI next year.

Samsung aims to enhance the Galaxy AI experience to drive innovation in everyday life and expand sales by strengthening marketing and experience programs. The next upgrade to Galaxy AI will create a wide gap with its Apple counterpart.

Given Galaxy AI advancement, the MX Division would pursue sales growth and profitability improvement centered on flagships. This includes the latest S25 series and foldable phones as well as Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Book, and Galaxy Buds/Watch.

Samsung’s mobile business will continue to maintain solid sales of its AI smartphones. Expect various sales promotions during the holiday season, which would push annual flagship sales growth to double digits.

MX Earnings in Q3

The MX and Networks businesses posted KRW 30.52 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 2.82 trillion in operating profit in 3Q24.

Overall market demand for smartphones grew modestly as the residual effects of global inflation slowed the recovery in consumer spending.

Samsung’s Tizen OS 9 will integrate CryptoCore in 2025

Samsung will fully integrate CryptoCore into Tizen OS in 2025. The company today announced that its proprietary cryptography module has secured FIPS 140-3 certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Tizen OS powers Samsung’s Smart TVs and Monitors, hence, CryptoCore will provide exceptional security to these products. Notably, CryptoCore is a software library that encrypts and decrypts data during both transmission and storage.

By integrating the FIPS 140-3-certified CryptoCore into Smart TVs, Samsung is taking its commitment to secure home entertainment a step further and ensuring that users can freely experience the value of products.

CryptoCore in 2025

The Korean tech giant also revealed that CryptoCore will be fully integrated into Tizen OS 9 starting in 2025. This move aimed at enhancing the security of key products such as TVs, monitors, and digital signage.

Thanks to CryptoCore, data stored in Samsung accounts will be securely encrypted, SmartThings authentication information will be protected from external hacking threats and content viewed on TVs will benefit from enhanced copyright protection.

It’s worth mentioning that the FIPS 140-3 certification is recognized by governments in 10 countries, including the United States, Canada, UK, Germany, France, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Google ensuring Pixel 9a beat iPhone SE 4, Galaxy S25 FE

Google is ramping up efforts to attain growth in the smartphone market. The company is working on the Pixel 9a, an affordable variant of the Pixel 9 flagship. The leaked specs sheet suggests that Google ensuring Pixel 9a beats iPhone SE 4, and Galaxy S25 FE.

AndroidHeadlines revealed Pixel 9a specifications that could keep it ahead of Galaxy S25 FE and iPhone SE 4 next year. The smartphone will reportedly get a 6.3-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display with up to 2700nits peak brightness.

The Pixel 9a could be powered by Google’s latest Tensor G4 and boot Android 15. While the chip is rumored to be the same as the Pixel 9, it would use Exynos Modem 5300 from the Pixel 8 series, potentially ditching satellite connectivity support.

Similar to the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series, the affordable model would be eligible for longer software support, including 7 years of major OS and security updates. Memory configurations could include 128GB and 256GB with 8GB of RAM.

In terms of optics, the Pixel 9a could have a 48-megapixel 1/2″ Sony IMX787 sensor. The 13-megapixel Sony IMX712ultrawide camera and 13-megapixel selfie snapper are said to remain the same as the Pixel 8a.

Apart from this, Google could bring a larger, 5000mAh battery to the Pixel 9a. It could be a whopping boost of 11% in battery capacity. The Pixel 8a comes with a 4492mAh battery, which is nearly 11% less than 5000mAh.

Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy S24 FE, and the S25 FE could be released in late 2025. Apple is rumored to debut its 2025 iPhone SE (SE 4) in the first half of the next year with some major upgrades over its predecessor.
