At the annual Google For India event, Google introduced a range of India-specific new features for Google Search, Google Assistant, and other Google services. In addition to this, Google has now started rolling out Hinglish support in Google Pay.

In early next year, the Hinglish support will be rolled out to users in Google Pay. Currently, the app supports seven regional languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. (via- xda)

To use Google Pay in Hinglish, users must change the language in the app settings. Although, the company is also planning to introduce it to more applications in the future.

In case you don’t know, Hinglish is a conversational mixture of Hindi and English. It is widely used in all forms of online communication in the region, while it uses the Latin script instead of the Devanagari script for Hindi words.

In the above twitter image, you can see a very good example of Hinglish. The description in the picture is a combination of commonly used English words and Hindi words written in Latin letters.

It is worth mentioning that Google is not the first company to provide Hinglish support for its applications and services. Since, in early 2019, Amazon introduced Hinglish support to Alexa.

Apart from this, Google is also planning to soon release the Bill Split feature in India. The feature will allow users to add friends or family members to group chat in Google Pay and add to the common costs they wish to isolate themselves from other members.
