With the launch of the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72, Samsung squashed the water-resistance exclusivity of flagship smartphones. Now, it looks like the company will bring this useful functionality to mid-range Galaxy A phones as well.

According to a report from Korea, Samsung will offer different levels of water resistance, AKA IP rating more several Galaxy A series phones that will launch next year. However, the Galaxy A33 could be one of the affordable Galaxy A phones featuring water resistance.

It’s worth mentioning that all of Samsung’s flagship smartphones are equipped with a waterproof function in which the Galaxy S21 has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, while the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 feature IPX8 waterproof function.

If the report becomes true, the upcoming Galaxy A33 and later models including the Galaxy A53, Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A73 5G will feature different grades of IP ratings for dust and water resistance. Following this strategy, Samsung could gain an edge in budget and mid-range smartphone market competition with Chinese OEMs.
