Telegram 8.3 update brings Protected Content, delete old chat history, global themes and more
Recently, the Telegram messaging service released a brand new update. The latest Telegram 8.3 update adds various new improvements such as protected content, the ability to easily delete old chat history, a new option for posting anonymously in global themes, public groups and more.
Adding to this, to protect your content from being copied by others, Telegram 8.3 adds a new option called “Restrict Content”, which prevents users from forwarding messages and media to other groups. This tool blocks screenshots and media from being downloaded.
To enable content protection in your group or channel, limit Group or Channel Info page > Group/Channel Type > Restrict Saving Content.
This latest update makes it easier to delete old messages from any conversation. You can now delete messages related to a specific day or date in the chat with anyone. To clear the history of a particular chat, tap the date bar that pops up as you scroll through the chat to open the calendar.
From there, select a day or date range and hit the “Clear History these days” button.
Next, Telegram 8.3 adds a new button that allows you to quickly link a desktop device. There is also a new option to automatically log out devices after a certain period of inactivity.
Another important feature is the ability to post anonymously in public groups and channels. To use it, tap the profile picture in the left corner of the message bar and select the channel name. Messages you post in that group will then appear under the channel name.
Earlier, Telegram introduced eight new items for personal chats. Now the company is making these themes available for the entire app. Each theme has colorful gradient message bubbles, day and night modes, animated background and unique background patterns.
Telegram 8.3 also has some iOS-specific features, such as a text recognition feature, which allows you to quickly select, copy and search text in photos, Redesigned contact info pages for all text formatting options and contacts, groups and channels for media titles.

WhatsApp rolling out Voice Message Transcripts feature for Android
WhatsApp has released a new feature named Voice Message Transcripts, which allows users to transcribe voice messages into text. This update, announced by Mark Zuckerberg, is now available in the latest WhatsApp for Android.
The voice message transcripts feature is a helpful tool for people who prefer reading over listening to messages, or for those in noisy places where listening to voice notes is difficult.
To use this feature, you just need to go to Settings >> Chats >> Voice Message Transcripts in the app and turn it on. WhatsApp may also ask you to enable the transcription feature when you receive a voice message.
Notably, the transcripts are created on your phone, not on WhatsApp’s servers. It means your voice messages and transcriptions are kept private and secure.
To start using voice message transcripts, you’ll need to download a language data package. At the moment, the feature supports English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Hindi. WhatsApp also plans to add more languages in the future. Once the transcriptions are done directly on your phone, you don’t need an internet connection to use the feature.
This Voice Message transcripts feature is available with the latest WhatsApp updates and will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks. So, install the fresh version of WhatsApp to enjoy this feature.
